UVA Chapel & The Space
Nothing beats a pretty couple happily in love– we have an extra special place in our heart for Dave and Dawn, a UVA sweetheart couple (Dave is a long-standing member of the UVA track community, often called “Papa Vitto” by the younger alum)– but add in a cute puppy? We are smitten! This cute and casual engagement session is the perfect way to leap into summer. Thanks to photographer Samantha Tobias for snapping these pretty pictures! PS–> Dave and Dawn were actually hitched this last Saturday! Hooray!

Three words to describe Dave & Dawn: Fun-loving, patient, dedicated

The groom’s wedding planning job: Making phone calls, hotel accommodations, transportation, keeping the bride sane.

Him: law studentĀ Her: Surgical Technologist
Our love story: We met working at The Virginian restaurant on the Corner. We started dating around New Years 2008 and haven’t looked back. I can’t think of what my life would be like without Dawn. We complement each other and we both cannot wait to do extraordinary things together as a team.
The proposal story: Dave was visiting Charlottesville for a weekend both to visit Dawn and to participate in a law school softball tournament. Throughout Dawn’s clinical training for surgical technology, she worked weekends at a downtown restaurant called Bizou, and so after attending Dave’s morning game, she headed downtown. When Dawn got off work, she tried to entice Dave into having a few drinks on the Downtown Mall with a few of her work friends, but to no avail, as Dave was “too tired” from his long day of softball. Around midnight, Dawn returned to her apartment to find Dave dressed in a suit in her bedroom in the dark, save for candles everywhere. He got down on his knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She tearfully agreed.
Design Inspiration: Locations. We chose venues based on meaningful times in our relationship and designed the wedding around these spaces and moments of our life together.
Most fun thing to plan: flowers and desserts.
Most stressful: guest list.
Advice for newly engaged couples: Enjoy being engaged but don’t be engaged for longer than a year. The longer you have to plan the more indecisive you will become.
