Inspiration: A ’40s-Themed Dinner Party

What’s “spectacular” about this styled shoot by the Pinwheel Collective and Amore Events by Cody? The location, for starters– who doesn’t daydream about the magnificent Barboursville ruins? (Throwing a party or wedding there? Yes please!)

The combined skills of Cody Burke Grannis, event planner, the gals behind the Collective, the florists of Couture Design, and the fantastic team they brought together made this shoot an overwhelmingly beautiful success– feast your eyes on some fabulous eye candy to inspire your next fĂȘte.

Think of the possibilities of a ’40s-themed soiree: you can ask your bridal party to dress in pre-war attire and style your rehearsal dinner this way; you can translate this into an entire wedding theme; or, quite simply, you can make your next dinner party a themed one. These dresses are delightfully bright and cheery– just right in this sweltering weather– and setting a table with fresh berries and lush flowers signals that summer is well on its way.

You certainly don’t have to go over the top with your table settings– throwing in a few “vintage” pieces helps the aesthetic, but you can also stick with the theme by planning a menu of pre-war recipes, paired with your favorite local wines. Taking location into consideration plays a big role as well– take your party out of the backyard and into an unexpected place!

My favorite parts of this inspiration shoot? The fashion– so easy to translate to a real life party and also go over-the-top with (get wild with details like jewelry, hair styling, shoes); the live music and dancing; and the glamour of the Barboursville Ruins!

Thanks to Cody for sharing this gorgeous shoot with us!
