It’s always a good time to support small business owners and local makers, but because I’m in the holiday spirit (read: eager to buy lots and lots of presents!), I’ve been on a major online shopping kick. The first place I go? Etsy! I know, I know– we all know the gloriousness of Etsy; but in case you’re looking for a few shop recommendations, a few of my current favorites–>
Clare Elsaesser | tastesorangey
Clare’s paintings are sublime. They’re the most enchanting blend of realism and whimsy– I want them all over my home. Her prints are perfect for your studio art roommate, your romantic sister-in-law, or yourself! (Hey, I’m tempted to gift one for myself. You can be too.)
I’m obsessed with the prints by Small Adventure– choose between a variety of animals (that don’t always get much love– like a buffalo or a raccoon) or beautifully illustrated collections of outdoor activities (my favorite: the canoeing and the backpacking). Perfect for your little brother, your father-in-law, or your outdoorsy best friend!
Of course, I have to give a major shout-out to a special shop– Bubsy is the brainchild of my darling friend Kim and all the products are made with organic materials and created / printed locally. Best of all, Bubsy celebrates the great outdoors AND the Spanish language. The clothing is all for little ones (your rambunctious niece, your super-smart little brother), although the prints and the tote bags are ideal for anyone on the go (busy moms, students, book club girlfriends).
Ah– I love the pieces in this Etsy shop (the one above originally caught my eye). Illuminance includes a lovely variety of styles, although they all fall into the “glamorous boho” aesthetic. My favorites are by far the rings, although the necklaces and bracelets are intricate, dainty, and dazzling! Of course– perfect for all the special girlfriends in your world!
And finally– the perfect gift for those on your list who just don’t fall into any of the above categories! Angel Street Market’s picnic blankets are perfect for anyone who enjoys time outside (bonus: they are so freaking pretty, they’ll make beautiful indoor accessories as well!). Weatherproof, chic, and the perfect motivation to get outdoors!
What are your favorite Etsy shops? Have you started your holiday shopping yet? What’s on your wishlist this year?
